Hear your God oh people of his
Rebellious, defiled, oppressing city
See the coming day of your Lord
You who dress in collared shirts
Starched, stiff and stained with sin
Accepting no comfort of correction
Professing but profaning the sacred tie
Lifting hands covered with guile
The day of the Lord is at hand
Spent is the day that leads to night
From out of night he leads to light
Conversion of the day looks within
To remove your robes of self proclaim
Look beyond destruction and see
Nations of people will rise to be
Can you see restoration envisaged?
Take hold oh people of his and see
A sense of hope is coming for thee
Rejoicing through the hardest of times
Will change and prevail in you
A calling, a serving, a praising in one
Put away defilement now so cleansed
Refuge and rest now garlands the day
A people made humbly and low to stay
Your suits of righteousness now pressing
In the wings he will fit and dress you
As your God a mighty one to save
In the day he dances and sings over you
In his out loud praising and waving
He quiets you by his love for you
He gathers the outcast, downcast
And brings you together as only his
Lift up your hands – grow not weary
Hear your God oh people of his
Oh look beyond and see him near
